Digital Radiography

Complete health may be our long-term goal, but our immediate priority is the patient comfort. We do our best to facilitate a relaxing and non-threatening office environment you’ll want to return to again and again. This includes the implementation of multiple techniques to prevent treatment discomfort and minimize anxiety.

Dental x-rays are an integral part of proper oral health care, and at Laser Dental Bakersfield, we are proud to offer the latest technology in digital radiography. We ensure your safety while using the advantages of x-rays to help determine the health of your teeth and gums. X-rays give us a more thorough view of the health of your teeth, mouth, and gums, enabling us to provide you with the best service possible.

Safety First

You can trust that we put our patient’s safety at the forefront of our practice. We use every precaution to protect our patients from exposure to the low amount of radiation emitted from dental x-rays. Luckily, with the use of digital x-rays, the amount of radiation emitted is 80-90 percent less than the radiation from traditional dental x-rays.

Results Right Away

The days of nervously waiting in the dentist’s chair for your dental x-ray results are over. Digital x-rays provide results instantly. We have the images projected on our computer screen the moment that we take the x-ray. This gives us the advantage of discussing any issues with you right away and keeping your dental appointments shorter.

What Dental X-Rays Can Tell

Our dentists can tell a lot from dental x-rays. Many oral health problems start long before you see signs of it with the naked eye. With the use of technology, we can see problems early on, which can reduce the invasiveness of the treatment and the type of damage that the issues cause.

The most common issues caught with dental x-rays include hidden decay, bone loss, unhealthy tooth roots, gum issues, and tumors. At first sight of a potential issue, our dentists put together a plan to investigate the issue further and potentially treat it.

How Often Do You Need Dental X-Rays?

At our office, we recommend a full mouth x-ray for every new patient. This gives us a baseline to work off at future appointments. We use the initial x-ray to compare any new x-rays or results from an oral exam to determine if anything has changed and is alarming.

Typically, we recommend follow-up x-rays, typically bitewing x-rays, at least once a year, but sometimes at both of your bi-annual appointments. It depends on your overall oral health and any concerns you bring up at your appointment. If there is reason for concern, we typically err on the side of caution and make sure there is not anything serious going on that we cannot see in a basic exam.

Digital x-rays are the latest technology available today to give our dentists a better view of your mouth. We fully utilize this technology to ensure that we catch even the smallest issues right away. Your dental health is an important part of your overall health, and we are here to help you make the most of it. With results right away and the ability to see areas that would otherwise remain hidden, your dental health is in good hands with us.
