Veneers

Misshapen, stained, or slightly damaged teeth can be frustrating. If your teeth are not perfect and it brings your self-confidence down, let the professional dentists at Laser Dental Bakersfield help you love your smile again with dental veneers.

What are Dental Veneers?

Dental veneers are a cosmetic tooth restoration commonly used on front teeth. The thin, resin or porcelain material lays over your natural tooth, covering up any unsightly issues you face. Dental veneers often have the nickname 'laminates' because of their thin appearance that 'laminates' your tooth. It's important to note that porcelain veneers are the most popular choice amongst our patients because of the light-reflecting qualities they possess as well as their durability. Porcelain veneers offer the most natural look, allowing it to pass off like any other tooth in your mouth.

Veneers can change a variety of things about your damaged or unsightly tooth, including chips, the shape, size, or color. Our dentists only have to remove a small portion of your natural tooth's enamel to place the veneer since they are small enough to fit the tooth without causing any discomfort or making it obvious that you had a restoration.

Who Benefits From Dental Veneers?

Dental veneers are a good option for patients that need a moderate level of restoration. For example, patients with discolored teeth due to antibiotics, excessive fluoride, or food stains are good candidates. Other examples include patients with chipped or slightly cracked teeth, oddly shaped teeth, misaligned teeth, or those with large gaps in between two teeth.

What's the Dental Veneers Process?

Dental veneers, like several other dental restoration processes, take place in multiple appointments. Your first appointment with one of our dentists is to determine if you are a good candidate for dental veneers. If the damage is too severe, we may recommend a stronger restoration, such as dental crowns or dental bonding.

If we decide you are a good fit, we will then prepare the tooth or teeth for the veneers. This step requires removal of some of the tooth's enamel to make room for the veneers. While the veneers are thin, they still add depth to your tooth. We make sure that you can comfortably talk, smile, and chew with the veneers in place without discomfort. Next, we take an impression of your mouth and send it to our lab where they create custom veneers made just for you.

At your next appointment, we will place the veneers on your tooth or teeth. We roughen up the tooth to give the adhesive a surface to stick to and then apply the cement to the tooth. Once applied, we adhere the veneer to the tooth or teeth, sealing it on with a special light that makes the veneer and cement harden, making it a part of your tooth.

If you have damaged teeth that embarrass you when you talk or smile, consider porcelain or resin veneers. Call Laser Dental Bakersfield at (661) 241-9144 today to learn how we can help you love your smile again.
